Minimum 2 Years' Mortgage Underwriting Experience Required We are looking for experienced Underwriters with a strong background in Buy-to-Let lending, although candidates with Residential and Commercial underwriting experience and broad lending knowledge will also be considered. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing specialist lender where you will manage complex mortgage applications, work collaboratively across teams, and play a key role in delivering high-quality lending decisions.
Key Responsibilities
* Underwrite mortgage applications in line with lending criteria and compliance standards
* Assess complex cases with sound judgement and strong attention to detail
* Interpret credit reports, financial statements, and supporting documentation
* Review a variety of specialist lending scenarios including:
o Buy-to-Let
o HMOs
o Multi-Unit Properties (MUPs)
o Expats & Foreign Nationals
o Limited Companies & SPVs
o Holiday Lets
* Provide clear lending decisions and elevate cases where required
* Manage and prioritise your own pipeline effectively
* Liaise with brokers, valuers, and internal departments to progress cases smoothly
* Support continuous improvement and contribute to a collaborative team environment
Skills & Experience Required
* Minimum 2 years' underwriting experience
* Strong experience within Buy-to-Let lending preferred
* Residential and Commercial underwriting backgrounds also considered
* Broad lending knowledge across specialist mortgage products
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
* Strong communication and relationship-building ability
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
* High attention to detail and strong decision-making capability
* Competent with Microsoft Office applications
Desirable Experience
* Experience underwriting specialist property types and complex cases
* Previous underwriting mandate experience
* Knowledge of specialist lending markets and regulatory requirements
* Positive, adaptable, and proactive approach
