Social worker - adults

Devon County Council
Social worker
Posted: 12 November
Offer description

Location : Central Supported Living Review Team, Countywide Team, County Hall, Exeter

Are you a dedicated social worker eager to make a meaningful impact in the lives of adults aged 18 and over with learning disabilities? Do you thrive on empowering individuals to achieve greater independence and reach their personal living goals? Are you seeking a flexible role that allows you to travel across Devon and collaborate with a passionate team? If so, this opportunity could be the perfect fit for you!

Join our professional Central Supported Living Review Team, a recently formed group of social workers and social care assessors working countywide across Devon. Our focus is on conducting reviews for adults with learning disabilities living in supported living arrangements throughout the county. We ensure that independent living skills are promoted and maximised to facilitate people’s ability to engage with their community, gain employment, and live and enjoy their adult life as independently as possible.

We are looking for a positive, motivated social worker who can confidently carry out reviews in line with the Care Act 2014, fulfilling all legal responsibilities including Mental Capacity Assessments and safeguarding awareness. Your role will involve reviewing individuals living in supported living settings, building strong professional relationships with supported living providers as well as being able to work together with service users and their families. You will assess placement suitability using a strengths-based approach that highlights what each person can achieve.

As a Countywide team, you will need access to a car and the ability to drive. While we support hybrid working with options to work from home, there is an expectation to collaborate in an office setting when requested to do so. We also have monthly face to face team meetings with the whole team based in Exeter on a Wednesday of each month. If you require any more detail around the job role, then please do not hesitate to contact me either on my email or work number.

Social Worker Career Pathway

We have implemented the first phase of a new Social Worker Career Pathway within our Adults Services, with our vacancies available at the Social Worker (Grade F) or Experienced Social Worker (Grade G) levels. Our Social Worker and Experienced Social Worker roles align with the national , which provides a robust structure for all local authorities to use as a way of standardising professional capabilities and provides a clear career pathway.

This is a fantastic opportunity to provide you with an achievable, clear pathway for your career; to enable you as a practitioner to reflect and identify your own practice and development on the PCF pathway.

If successful in being shortlisted for interview, your experience, skills and knowledge, will be assessed against the PCF domains and if found appointable, this will determine your appointment to either the Social Worker (Grade F) or Experienced Social Worker level (Grade G).

With on-going learning and support from your line manager, those appointed as a Social Worker will be able to evidence incremental learning and submit an application in due course for progression to the Experienced Social Worker (Grade G) via a portfolio of supporting evidence against the PCF framework.

What we can offer you

1. We are committed to your continuous professional development, doing all we can to help you to get the most from your career. You will receive excellent support and supervision, with regular opportunities to discuss and reflect on your practice, both with your line manager and peers.
