The University of Oxford is seeking a Finance Manager to lead on all core financial operations, support the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting, and play a critical role in the preparation and oversight of our annual budgets and financial forecasts. This is a key position within the Faculty's administrative team, and we are looking for someone with substantial experience in budget preparation, monitoring, and financial planning, as well as strong analytical and communication skills. You will need to be confident managing month-end and year-end processes, supporting research grant activity, and liaising with stakeholders across the University. Key Responsibilities: Lead on the preparation of the Faculty’s annual budget and quarterly forecasts, conducting in-depth analysis and scenario planning. Monitor financial performance against budget, investigating variances and recommending corrective action where needed. Oversee day-to-day finance operations including payroll administration, VAT reporting, purchase and sales orders, and expense claims. Support the Faculty’s strategic planning through financial modelling and analysis. Provide expert financial advice to the Head of Administration and Finance (HAF), Faculty Board and committees. Manage the financial aspects of research projects and grants, ensuring compliance with funder terms and University policies. Supervise and support a Finance Assistant and deputise for the HAF on finance-related matters. Essential Criteria: Hold, or be working towards, an AAT qualification (or equivalent). Substantial and proven experience in budget management, financial forecasting, and financial reporting. Ability to present complex financial data clearly and effectively to non-financial audiences. Strong IT skills, including advanced Excel and experience with financial software systems. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and influence a range of stakeholders.
