Youth Worker / Mentor / Motivational Speaker

Location: Central or South Bristol
Full-Time / Part-Time | Flexible Opportunities
Start Date: ASAP

I am recruiting alongside a number of mainstream secondary schools in Bristol for passionate and resilient Youth Workers, Student Mentors and Motivational Speakers to support young people across both mainstream classrooms and on‑site inclusion settings such as SEN hubs, nurture groups and alternative provisions.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work within school environments while making a meaningful impact on students who require additional guidance, structure and inspiration to succeed.




✅ About the Role & Setting:

You will be supporting students within mainstream secondary schools, often working closely with:

* On-site SEN units or resource bases
* Inclusion hubs and behaviour support centres
* Alternative provision (AP) spaces within schools
* Students at risk of disengagement or exclusion

These students may experience:

* Social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges
* Behavioural needs or difficulties regulating emotions
* Barriers to learning, attendance or engagement

Your role will focus on helping them to:

* Build confidence, resilience and self-belief
* Develop positive behaviours and coping strategies
* Re‑engage with education and learning
* Improve social, emotional and communication skills
* Set and work towards personal and academic goals

✅ The Role:

As a Youth Worker / Mentor / Motivational Speaker, you will:

* Deliver 1:1 mentoring and targeted small group interventions
* Support students within lessons, inclusion units or breakout spaces
* Facilitate mentoring sessions or talks
* Build strong, consistent and trusting relationships with young people
* Act as a positive role model, promoting high expectations and accountability
* Support behaviour regulation and emotional wellbeing
* Work collaboratively with SENCOs, pastoral teams and teaching staff
* Adapt your approach to suit a range of needs and learning styles
* Monitor engagement and provide updates on student progress

✅ Who This Role Suits:

* Youth workers, behaviour mentors or pastoral support staff
* Individuals with experience in SEMH, SEN or inclusion settings
* Motivational speakers or coaches who work with young people
* Sports coaches, creative mentors or outreach workers
* Graduates or professionals with a passion for supporting vulnerable learners
* Individuals who can build rapport quickly and remain calm under pressure

✅ Experience & Requirements:

* Experience working with young people, ideally in education or community settings
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage and motivate students
* Understanding of behaviour management and safeguarding
* Resilient, adaptable and proactive approach
* Experience with SEMH or additional needs is highly desirable
* Enhanced Child‑Only DBS (or willingness to apply)
* Relevant qualifications (Youth Work, Psychology, Education, Coaching, etc.) are beneficial but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
