Overview
Electrical Controls Graduate Engineer role within Johnson Matthey’s Graduate Engineering Programme (GEP) in the Group Engineering function. The GEP supports key capabilities of the business and the rapid professional progression of future engineers. Graduates on the GEP will undergo technical and leadership development while completing high priority business projects, with a mentor to support progress toward Chartered Engineer status.
As an Electrical Controls Graduate Engineer, you’ll contribute to JM’s mission as a world leader in sustainable technology, transforming energy and reducing carbon emissions for a cleaner, brighter future. This application is for consideration of your first rotation; you are encouraged to rotate into other project areas and functions.
Start: 15th September 2026 – Global Induction in the UK. Location: Royston.
Responsibilities
* Develop and implement engineered solutions for production to improve safety, sustainability performance, and reliability
* Commission new plant equipment and develop/deliver training for operators
* Mechanical and maintenance optimisation
* Electrical AC Power Systems, Motors and Drives, Control Instrumentation and Grounding systems
* Implement standardized JM processes to drive continuous improvement toward goals
* Energy, water, waste and emission monitoring to drive sustainability opportunities
Qualifications and Skills
* Bachelor’s degree in Process Controls Engineering or a similar field (Minimum 2.1)
* Geographically flexible with a willingness to relocate to any JM site for three placements during the development programme and first role; relocation assistance provided where applicable
* Demonstrated leadership potential; adaptable,pires for excellence, and maintains a positive attitude
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build collaborative relationships to achieve results
