Salary: Up to £46,790 (DOE)
Contract: Full Time, Permanent - Term Time Only

We are working with a specialist independent school in East Sussex that supports KS3, 4 & 5 pupils with SEMH and additional SEND needs with their education. The school provides a nurturing, structured environment focused on engagement, aspiration, and positive outcomes.
The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and compassionate Deputy Headteacher to join a committed senior leadership team. This role is ideal for a qualified teacher with strong SEND experience across Key Stages 3 and 4, particularly within Science, Maths, and the wider curriculum who wants to progress into leadership, and move into a deputy head position.
You will play a key role in driving high-quality teaching and learning, curriculum development, staff leadership, and pupil progress, using a therapeutic and inclusive approach.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support high-quality teaching and learning across the school
Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress and achievement
Support preparation for external examinations
Contribute to whole-school curriculum strategy and development
Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing through therapeutic practice
Line manage and support staff, fostering collaboration and professional growth
Work closely with parents and external professionals to secure positive outcomes
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Significant experience working with pupils with SEND, particularly SEMH
Previous middle or senior leadership experience
Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills
Proactive, adaptable, and values-led approach
