Your new company An established Main contractor working across the South East region now seek an experienced Senior QS to oversee a recently awarded new-build education project in Pourtsmouth. The project is the result of an extremely successful period of tendering during which several new major projects have been won and are due on site in the coming months. The initial project is a new £15 mill extension to an existing school due on site imminently. The role will be site-based with a contract programme of 18 months with similar works to follow on the same framework. This is a newly created role and paying extremely competitively, demonstrating the importance and value of the role within the business. Your new role As senior QS, you'll take ownership of the commercial side of the project from start to finish, managing everything from early cost planning through to final account. The role includes procuring and overseeing subcontract packages, handling valuations and variations, and keeping on top of cost reporting, forecasts and CVRs. You'll look after subcontractor payments, change control and final accounts, making sure everything is run in line with the contract and company processes. Along the way, you'll work closely with the wider project team, clients and consultants, while supporting value engineering and keeping a tight control on costs on site. What you'll need to succeed You will be an experienced Senior QS with experience of managing new-build education schemes or similar on behalf of a main contractor. Experience of working on DFE projects is preferred but not essential. You will be comfortable working on site and have managed larger schemes of over £10 mill previous. You will be looking for a long-term permanent move and be happy working in the South East region.
