Overview
Are you a Consultant Psychiatrist looking to contribute to the leadership and clinical expertise of a highly skilled team within an acute female inpatient ward? Based in our Ruby Ward at the Whiteleaf Centre in Aylesbury, you'll work closely with the ward manager and modern matron to provide direct clinical care to all inpatients and leadership to the multidisciplinary team (MDT). Ruby is a 17‑bedded ward for working‑age women who have acute mental health needs. This role also offers extensive opportunities for teaching and training of medical students, postgraduate doctors, members of the multidisciplinary team and other service providers, and for appraising and mentoring consultant colleagues. We are looking for candidates who are fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and on the Specialist Register or be within six months of attaining their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or an equivalent approved indicator of training. Responsibilities
* Provide direct clinical care to all inpatients under your care and provide clinical leadership to the MDT, in doing so, work collaboratively with the ward manager and modern matron.
* Provide direct clinical supervision and line management to the trainees and any senior trainee and/or specialty doctor. This will include one hour per week clinical supervision for core trainees.
* Undertake the role of Responsible Clinician for all patients detained under the Mental Health Act.
* Provide timely written correspondence to relevant professionals, documenting assessments, ongoing management, progress, and eventual discharge using Trust IT and clinical records system – training will be provided where needed.
* Work collaboratively with other agencies, in particular, liaise with colleagues from other teams to manage smooth and timely transfer into and out of the ward.
* Active commitment to delivering the Trust's clinical governance agenda.
