We are currently seeking a Temporary Receptionist to support our busy Front Office during a period of staff sickness cover. The role is initially until 1 st November and on a flexible hours (zero hours) basis with the possibility of extension depending on business needs. Please note that the position may also conclude at the end of the initial period, ending on 1st November. We're looking for someone who brings energy, enthusiasm, and a can-do attitude to every shift. The 148-bedroom Graduate Cambridge hotel is part of the Graduate Hotels collection inspired by the prestigious University of Cambridge and its surrounding town. Set right on the River Cam, in the heart of Cambridge's historic centre. The hotel feels like an extension of the university, with nods to college architecture. THE ROLE As a Receptionist, you will be the first and last Team Member our guests see and creating memorable experiences will be your top priority. You will be enthusiastic about providing inspiring service and supporting the day-to-day operation of the hotel. We operate in a dynamic environment; shifts will vary and include evenings and weekends. Flexibility is key, with hours spread across the week to support the operation of the front office. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Greeting guests and creating a welcoming, memorable arrival experience in line with our brand standards. Recommending local places places and experiences for our wonderful guests to enjoy. Handling guest enquiries, payments, feedback, and departures. Resolving guest concerns - you will be empowered to make decisions and are expected to take full ownership of any feedback to ensure every guest leaves the hotel happy. Reviewing daily arrival lists for VIPs and preparing/delivering in-room amenities accordingly. Maintaining a clean and tidy front desk, ensuring it is equipped with the appropriate materials, tools, and technology. Assisting guests with their luggage and anticipating their needs. When appropriate, promoting upgrades and special offers to increase hotel revenue. Sharing knowledge of hotel room categories, room rates, packages, promotions, and other general product knowledge. Being fully knowledgeable of the hotel facilities, daily events, and all fire and emergency procedures. Assisting fellow team members within and outside your department when possible, to ensure guest service and operational standards are maintained. Recording maintenance issues and communicating across relevant departments. Ensuring all cash handling, charges, floats, and till procedures are followed correctly. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR FROM YOU Previous hotel or customer-facing experience. A passion to customer service – you love to meeting and greeting different people. Standards-driven and detail-orientated, with the ability to organise and plan ahead. Able to multi-task and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and in written. Working knowledge of OnQ PMS (desirable). Strong problem-solving skills and a positive, can-do attitude.
