Mechanical Day Technician

Hours: 06:30 – 18:30 & 18:30 – 06:30 (Continental Shift Pattern) 42hrs a week
Position Overview
As the Mechanical Day Technician you will be responsible for the inspection, operation and maintenance of all mechanical assets within the Data Centre. You will work with the engineering shift teams to maintain reliability, reduce risk, and ensure compliance with QHSE policies.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate all Mechanical systems within the Data Centre in a competent, effective and efficient manner (including Mechanical isolations/operations).
* Ensure due regard to business risk and energy use.
* Make recommendations for improvement and provide concise technical reports when required.
* Work closely with the Data Centre Shift Leader to ensure that all Specialist Sub‑Contractor visits are conducted in line with approved Standard Operating Procedures, MOP, PTW and change requests.
* Ensure that Specialist Sub‑Contractor worksheets are signed off where necessary, that the quality of work has been inspected and recommendations communicated to the Data Centre Shift Leader.
* Provide backup as engineering relief cover in the event of annual leave, training or other absence within the engineering team.
* Accurately report all completed work orders, including precise recording of any critical spares/stock items used during these tasks.
* Attend weekly team meetings, client meetings as requested, in conjunction with CBRE management.
* Review and prepare MOPs, SOPs and EOPs, and undertake any relevant EOP scenario drills (Mock Drills).
* Assist the Data Centre Shift Leader in completing the daily shift handover, ensuring that significant events or activities are noted.
* Respond to all Data Centre client requests within SLA.
* Participate in QHSE compliance activities, such as Hazard/Near Miss Reporting and regular Toolbox Talks.
* Compliance with Client Data Centre Shift Mechanical Technician CEM process and procedures when undertaking all relevant work orders.
* Coordinate with the supply chain when ordering M&E components for remedial works.
* Attend nominated training courses as identified by CBRE management in line with DCS training matrix.
* Undertake Site Specific Technical Assessments and Skills Gap Analysis at intervals defined by CBRE/Client Data Centre Shift Mechanical Technician.
* Work with the Data Centre Shift Leader to ensure all plant rooms under CBRE control are maintained to the required show‑site standards.
* Evaluate and Escalate any potential risks, with an assessment of impact, probable causes and mitigation opportunities.
* Actively contribute to continuous improvement of safe systems of work, ensuring compliance with relevant QHSE policy and procedures.

* PDU and Distribution Boards – LV
* Other Data Centre related infrastructure
Personal Specification
* Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in Data Centre or Critical Environment operations.
* Mechanical Authorised Person.
* HNC/HND in relevant field or associated Mechanical Apprenticeship (or Similar).
* Strong communication skills and the ability to deal with all levels of staff.
* Proactive in achieving operational excellence.
* Good IT and report writing skills.
* Demonstrated commitment to previous similar work environments.
