Position Title: Personal Assistant Location: Shipston-On-Stour, Warwickshire. Hourly Rate: £14.00 Hours Per Week: Waking night hours Monday to Friday 10pm 7am Vacancy Type: Permanent Job Reference:SOLOOSP ABOUT THE ROLE This role is to support a young male living with his parents in their family home, in Shipston-On-Stour. He has 2 dogs and 8 cats at home. He is the youngest of 5 children, but they don't all live at home with him. His current care is being provided by one other carer. The client is registered blind and has profound learning disability, with additional health complexities. He fully immobile and suffers with diabetes, Epilepsy and Pokilothermia which is a condition causing them to be unable to regulate their own body temperature. Client has intermittent oxygen therapy, he may require nebulization, oral suction and enteral feeding. Also has a super pu.bic catheter in-situ. The personal assistants will need to be patient and very understanding of his needs, working a waking night in the clients home. Doesnt like: Loud noises that he isnt making, Raised voices or busy environments. We are looking to recruit one other Personal assistant who can support with his complex health needs at night whilst supporting his emotional well-being but must have a calming approach when supporting at night. ABOUT YOU The ideal candidate will live locally to the family, is flexible and enjoys the company of animals as the family own cats and dogs. Must have a genuine caring nature and a calming presence. You will need to be enthusiastic, patient but inspiring to bring a sense of engagement into their life. You must also be able to demonstrate a high level of professionalism and integrity and respect the family and their home. And have a good sense of humour. Candidates can be Male or Female and previous experience of supporting clients with Poikilothermia, Oxygen therapy, Oral suctioning, enteral feeding, catheter care, epilepsy or diabetes is desirable but not essential as full training will be given. Post includes Monday to Friday 10pm 7am Waking Nights. Set days will be allocated but the team will also need to offer some flexibility with their hours to support any changes, including cover for Annual leave, sickness and alternate flexible weekend cover on a pro Rota basis. The hourly rate of pay is £14.00 per hour and all training is paid for including the hours to complete the necessary training. An in-depth training package will be delivered to the team to support you to understand how to care for the client and to meet their needs.
