The post holder will be responsible for leading all Procurement aspects for indirect materials. Facilitating the process of selecting and leading PDX suppliers while applying best Procurement practices.
Key duties and responsibilities
* Developing and implementing procurement strategies for indirect categories to secure efficient value, mitigate risks, and support business goals. This involves identifying and evaluating new and existing suppliers.
* Negotiation and contracts: Implement tenders and negotiate contract terms, pricing, and service level agreements (SLAs) with suppliers to secure favourable agreements. This includes drafting and amending contract documentation.
* Collaborator management: Establish strong, coordinated relationships with internal departments, like HR, Finance, IT, and Marketing, Site Services to grasp their needs and guarantee procurement strategies align with business demands.
* Supplier relationship management: Optimise the supplier base and lead ongoing vendor performance, supervising key performance indicators (critical metrics), and initiating corrective actions when necessary.
* Cost optimisation: Conduct spend analysis, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce expenses without compromising quality.
* Compliance and governance: Ensure all procurement activities adhere to company policies, UK regulations, and ethical sourcing standards.
* Market analysis: Keep up to date with market trends and new technologies to provide expert advice and identify innovative solutions.
Qualifications and skills
* Qualifications: While a degree is often preferred, significant experience is key. Membership or progress towards membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS) is highly desirable.
* Experience: A proven track record in procurement, category management, contract management, and negotiation is important. Experience in specific indirect categories may be required for senior roles.
* Skills: Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills are essential. The role demands commercial awareness and a proactive, collaborative attitude.
Systems: Proficiency with procurement software, ERP systems, and standard business software like Microsoft Excel is encouraged
