About the Role
We are seeking an experienced 5-Axis CNC Mill Turn Programmer to join a precision engineering team. The successful candidate will program, set, and optimize 5-axis mill-turn machines to produce complex, high-accuracy components. This role requires expertise in CAD/CAM programming, fixture and work-holding design, and machining strategies to maximize efficiency, precision, and tool life.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, verify, and optimize CNC programs for 5-axis mill-turn machines.
* Utilize Edgecam software (experience with other CAD/CAM systems considered).
* Operate Heidenhain, Siemens 840D, and Fanuc controls.
* Design and implement fixtures, jigs, and work-holding solutions for accurate and stable machining.
* Select suitable cutters, tools, speeds, and feeds to ensure efficient and precise production.
* Monitor and enhance tool life and machining performance.
* Interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
* Collaborate with engineers and production teams to resolve technical challenges and improve processes.
* Maintain the highest standards of quality and precision, particularly for aerospace-grade components.
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience as a 5-axis CNC Programmer in precision engineering or aerospace environments.
* Proficient in Edgecam or similar CAD/CAM software.
* Strong knowledge of Heidenhain, Siemens 840D, and Fanuc control systems.
* Ability to design and manufacture fixtures and work-holding solutions.
* In-depth understanding of cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and tool life optimization.
* Exceptional attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
* Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
* Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Desirable
* Experience in aerospace or high-precision engineering.
