Job Title: Supervising Social Worker - Fostering Team
Location: Newcastle
Are you an experienced and dedicated social worker with a passion for supporting children in foster care? We are currently seeking a qualified individual to join our Fostering Team as a Supervising Social Worker. In this key role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the well-being and positive development of children placed in foster care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervision and Support: Provide effective supervision, guidance, and support to a caseload of foster carers. Conduct regular visits to assess the quality of care and address any concerns or challenges.
2. Assessment and Approval: Participate in the assessment and approval process for potential foster carers. Conduct thorough assessments, make recommendations, and contribute to decision-making regarding placements.
3. Training and Development: Develop and deliver training programs for foster carers, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality care. Identify and address any training needs or gaps.
4. Case Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for each foster placement. Monitor and review care plans, ensuring they meet the individual needs of each child and comply with relevant regulations and standards.
5. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including local authorities, schools, and health professionals, to coordinate support services and resources for foster families.
6. Crisis Intervention: Provide timely and effective support during crisis situations, collaborating with relevant parties to ensure the safety and well-being of the child and the foster family.
7. Advocacy: Advocate for the rights and best interests of children in foster care, ensuring their voices are heard in decision-making processes.
8. Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about and ensure compliance with relevant fostering regulations, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements:
9. Degree in Social Work: A recognised qualification in social work and registration with the relevant professional body.
10. DBS on Update service
11. Experience: Substantial experience in fostering services, including assessing, supervising, and supporting foster carers.
12. Knowledge: A solid understanding of child development, safeguarding, and relevant legislation related to fostering services.
13. Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with foster carers, children, and professionals.
14. Organisational Skills: Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage a caseload effectively.
