Job overview
* The post holder will work as part of the Healthcare team, providing care and support to patients within HMP Ranby in accordance with security guidelines
* The post holder will work closely with other teams within the prison and with external agencies in meeting the holistic needs of the patients.
* The post holder will, at times, be able to work without direct supervision, undertaking delegated tasks and reporting back to the Registered Nurses.
* The post holder will actively participate in the on-going development of positive working relationships with prison staff.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
1. Be able to perform clinical observations, report abnormalities, escalated concerns and document on System One accurately.
2. Follow appropriate infection prevention and control guidelines in order to protect themselves, colleagues and patients.
3. Asist in the provision of clinics including phlebotomy, vaccinations, ECGs, physical investigation clinics and wound care clinics in line with their skills & proficiencies.
4. Participate in resident screenings with healthcare colleagues.
5. Be able to maintain accurate, timely and legible records of resident’s care, including data input and statistical information, as required
6. To contribute to the ordering, distribution, stock control and maintenance of Healthcare equipment and resources.
7. Will participate in all aspects of healthcare admin duties as required including booking appointments, scanning of patients information and answering queries.

Essential and desireable
* GCSE Maths & English or qualified to equivalent Functional skills level 2 in Maths & English, or willingness to undertake.
* Care certificate or willingness to work towards
* Completion of a clinical skills competency- based workbook or equivalent relevant experience to vocational qualification level 3, or willingness to undertake.
* Knowledge of clinical patient observations.
* Willingness to undertake competencies supported by clinical skills training and education to gain theoretical underpinning knowledge in a range of clinical interventions and use of test equipment e.g. blood glucose monitors, venepuncture etc.
* Care experience working in a health or social care setting.
* Experience of working in offender health
* Experience using system one.
* Is phlebotomy trained
