£35,000 - £45,000 - Salary is depending on experience and/or qualifications.
Vision for Education are recruiting for a Permanent Head of School for a SEND school in Birkenhead. This is a full-time role (Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm) starting in March 2026. The role involves leading and supporting pupils across KS3 and KS4, providing strategic and operational leadership to ensure positive educational outcomes and a safe, nurturing learning environment.
As Head of School, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality, personalised education for students with a range of special educational needs and disabilities. You will lead staff to create an engaging, inclusive curriculum tailored to individual learning needs, promote strong behaviour and wellbeing practices and work closely with families and external professionals to ensure all pupils can access the curriculum and reach their full potential.
Requirements
To be considered for the Head of School position, the school have asked for:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent, with a relevant degree
- Proven experience in a leadership or senior leadership role within education
- Experience working with SEND, SEMH, alternative provision or complex needs pupils
- Strong understanding of KS3 and KS4 curriculum, assessment and outcomes
- Ability to lead, motivate and manage staff effectively, including performance management
- Experience of creating and delivering personalised, inclusive learning programmes
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, behaviour management and pastoral support
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with pupils, families and external agencies
- Commitment to promoting positive outcomes, wellbeing and engagement for vulnerable learners
- Confident in managing day-to-day school operations and driving continuous improvement
