Strategic HR Manager (Part-Time)
Base pay range: £50K - £60K p.a (pro rata)
A collaborative team of architects and designers is seeking an experienced HR Manager to join on a part‑time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and capable HR generalist who enjoys combining strategic thinking with hands‑on HR delivery.
As the studio’s go‑to HR contact, you’ll provide trusted advice and practical support across all aspects of HR. From recruitment, payroll and compliance to training, wellbeing and employee relations, you’ll play a key role in maintaining a positive culture while ensuring processes run smoothly. Reporting directly to the board of directors, you’ll have the scope to make a real impact in a creative, people‑focused environment.
Key responsibilities
* Act as the first point of contact for HR queries across the studio
* Manage and update HR policies, procedures, and compliance
* Oversee HR systems (Access People HR) and accurate record‑keeping
* Coordinate payroll with external providers
* Lead recruitment, onboarding, and internship programmes
* Organise CPD, training, performance reviews, and development initiatives
* Manage employee benefits, wellbeing programmes, and engagement activities
* Oversee Health & Safety compliance with an external advisor
* Prepare clear and concise HR reports for directors
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a broad HR generalist role within an architecture or design practice is imperative.
Strong communication skills with a confident, approachable manner.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Integrity, discretion, and a proactive, professional outlook.
Knowledge of HR policies, practices, and employment legislation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (experience with HR software an advantage).
