On behalf of The Ministry of Justice, we are looking for a Business Analyst (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract. This is a hybrid working role (travel to London on an ad-hoc basis).
The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) priorities include improving public safety and reducing reoffending by reforming prisons, probation and youth justice, and building a justice system which makes access to justice swifter and more certain for all citizens whatever their background. Project professionals in the MoJ help to improve the government's ability to protect the public and reduce reoffending, and to provide a more effective, transparent and responsive criminal justice system for victims and the public.
Job Purpose:

For data management and reporting, there is a need to collect system data dictionaries, conducting data quality interviews, and consolidating this information into a national map. Stakeholder management and engagement skills are critical given the complexity and diverse disciplines working within the Criminal Justice System. The goal is to complete the data improvement work by January 2026, allowing a year for setting up data sharing agreements and embedding long-term solutions.
Finally, the MI reporting dashboard which will be informed by the data mapping work, will integrate with other platforms, with planning set to be complete by January 2026.
As a Business Analyst, your main responsibilities will be:
* Delivering the national data map for agencies across the CJS and the critical data model informed by operational performance analysis.
* Conducting local data assessments with identified stakeholders and analysts within various CJS agencies- including the police, CPS, HMCTS, and HMPPS
* Collaborating with suppliers to obtain data dictionaries for the majority of police forces.
* Engaging with the police main data office and Home Office police reform strategy to ensure alignment and support.
* Completing the MI planning by January 2026 to determine the long-term data housing strategy.
