Overview
You will sharpen your skills in an area strategically important to Airbus, gaining a deep understanding of our business and readiness to take on future leadership challenges within Airbus. You will join the team dedicated to Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Methods and Processes within the Airframe Engineering organization, developing Inspection and Sensing methods for aircraft structures. Inspection is a key enabler of the aircraft industry, ensuring quality and safety, and contributing to product development lead times and manufacturing costs. You will work in a transnational team of professionals in physics-based inspection fields (optics, acoustics, electromagnetics, radiography...), with hardware and software competences, including state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence. What you will be doing
* Leading the development of NDT/inspection solutions: sensing technology and associated processing algorithms
* Designing and running tests to develop, validate and qualify the inspection solutions in their application environment (structures tests and manufacturing especially)
* Interacting with colleagues from the aircraft programs to understand needs and translate into technical workplans
* Being at the cross-roads of structures tests, NDT and manufacturing to provide fit-for-purpose inspection solutions supporting future aircraft program development
* Two rotational placements as part of the development pathway to support growth into the role, including:
* Learn how structures tests are designed, implemented and how inspections integrate
* Learn how inspections are executed and integrated in the production system
* Throughout the two-year development programme you will develop into the position of Airframe Inspection & Sensing Methods Leader
What we are looking for
* A PhD degree or an MSc degree in Physics, Mechanics, Aerospace or Applied Mathematics
* Ability to prototype scientific software solutions with Python or Matlab
* Competences in data processing / data science
* Competences in simulation of physics
* Strong verbal and written communication in English
* A desire to work in a collaborative team environment, focused on driving future innovation
* The ability to be self-aware and a wish to be in the driving seat of your development
