Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Stoma Nurse Specialist to join the team at Frimley Park Hospital. The post holder will deliver high‑quality, specialist stoma care to patients across inpatient, outpatient and community settings within Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for managing a defined caseload, providing expert clinical assessment, treatment, education and ongoing support throughout the patient journey. Working autonomously within agreed clinical guidelines and protocols, you will ensure care is safe, effective and patient‑centred.
The role involves close collaboration with colorectal consultants, ward teams and community services to support seamless, integrated care. The post holder will play an active role in service development, audit and quality improvement initiatives, demonstrating a strong commitment to maintaining and advancing standards of clinical practice.
In addition, you will act as a specialist resource for stoma care across the organisation, supporting the education and development of colleagues and contributing to innovation and service improvement to meet future service demands.
The role is to deliver safe, effective and compassionate specialist stoma care, supporting positive patient experience and outcomes. This includes pre‑operative assessment and counselling, post‑operative care and ongoing follow‑up to promote independence and quality of life.
Working in line with the Trust’s values, the Band 6 Stoma Nurse Specialist will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, support patients and families through education and psychological care, and play a key role in reducing complications, supporting timely discharge and ensuring continuity of care across services.
