Job Overview
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic Nurse to lead or join our Healthcare Service at YOI Feltham A—the only young offender institution in the south of England for males aged 15‑19. All staff work in line with ‘Child First’ principles to create a developmentally appropriate and trauma‑informed healthcare service. By joining our team you will help develop a new service that promotes health and well‑being for this vulnerable population and contributes to their future life orientation.
Key Responsibilities
* Work closely with children who use our services, their families, friends and carers, contributing to how children experience care.
* Provide a comprehensive school nursing service as part of an integrated healthcare service that includes primary care, mental health, substance misuse and sexual behaviour services.
* Keep children safe through sound clinical skills and effective risk assessments.
* Ensure the best possible clinical outcomes by using up‑to‑date skills and adhering to evidence‑based policies and procedures.
* Ensure children using our services have a good experience by respecting, empowering and working in partnership with people throughout the care planning process.
* Act as an effective role model and supervise Band 5 nurses, support workers and students to meet required standards.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, partnering with other services to provide seamless care.
* Deliver trauma‑informed, culturally sensitive care that considers developmental needs and the impact of children’s experiences on their strengths, needs and difficulties.

Qualifications
Education & Qualifications
* Registered Nurse (Adult/Child/Mental Health/Learning Disability)
* Specialist Community Public Health Nurse – School Nursing (SCPHN – SN) or willingness to work toward one
* Evidence of continual professional development
* Mentorship preparation or equivalent
Experience
* Proven post‑registration experience relevant to secure and/or educational settings.
* Experience working with diverse communities.
* Experience working with families in a professional capacity (desirable).
* Experience conducting clinical audit activity (desirable).
* Experience working as part of an integrated team alongside non‑health colleagues (desirable).
