We’re working with a welcoming SEN secondary school that supports pupils with a range of additional needs, from autism and communication differences to social, emotional and mental health needs. They’re looking for a Teaching Assistant who’s patient, positive and ready to help teenagers feel more confident in their learning.
What you’ll be doing
1. Supporting students in KS3 and KS4 during lessons, helping them stay focused and engaged
2. Breaking down tasks, explaining concepts and celebrating progress
3. Working 1:1 or in small groups, depending on the needs of each pupil
4. Helping young people develop routines, confidence and independence
5. Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and specialists to keep strategies consistent
6. Bringing calm, encouragement and steady guidance to each day
What the school is looking for
7. Someone who builds relationships quickly and communicates with warmth
8. Confidence supporting young people with additional needs
9. Experience in schools, youth work, care, mentoring or behaviour support is a bonus
10. A flexible, patient approach and a good sense of humour when things go a bit sideways
11. You don’t need SEN experience to apply, just the right mindset and willingness to learn
