Due to expansion we now have an exciting opportunity for a Credit Underwriter to join our team. Job Purpose: The role of the Credit Underwriter is to assess the financial circumstances of our customers who are applying for a lending facility and to provide well-reasoned credit lending decisions. As part of the role you will provide credit assessments and recommendations whilst minimising any credit risks, fraud, regulatory and conduct risks. Responsibilities: * Research and collate appropriate information to make a credit decisions and keep appropriate records relating to information received and decisions made * Perform risk assessments on potential Asset Finance/Loan recipients based on credit rating, borrowing history, and other specific risk factors * Liaise with internal and external personnel to gain extra/appropriate information or to discuss applications where necessary and provide regular information on application statuses and workload * Work within an agreed mandate and refer deals over this limit to a team member with a higher authority * Identity and report any signs of fraudulent activity * Where necessary, discuss and agree ways to structure applications that will make the application acceptable to Tower * To work within the level of risk the business is prepared to accept * Assess deals as to whether they are appropriate to fund on own book or broker to another funder * Completing consumer / AML credit searches * Answering e-mail queries as they arise * Supporting the team day-to-day and any other tasks that see fit Required Skills & Qualifications: * Understanding of financial statements and principles of lending * Previous experience in a risk environment Skills & Personal Attributes: * Strong decision-making ability * Ability to multitask * Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills * Self-motivated with excellent organisational and time management skills * Ability to work within structured processes managing tasks efficiently and effectively * High attention to detail * Be proactive and acts on own initiative and have good problem-solving skills * Work well under pressure and at a fast pace Place of work: Location is office based in Bracknell, with working from home hybrid model Hours: the post is full time 09:00 – 17:30 Monday – Thursday & 09:00 – 17:00 on Friday Holiday: 25 days holiday increasing with length of service Other benefits: Private healthcare after 1 year of service, life insurance, company pension scheme, free onsite parking, company events Please note due to the nature of our business the successful candidate will be subject a basic DBS and employment reference checks.
