Overview
An opportunity has arisen within University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust. Our stroke service is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Generic Therapy Assistant, to work across the stroke services, at the Royal Derby Hospital, and Florence Nightingale Hospital.
You will be an essential member of an established multi-disciplinary stroke team, working flexibly to ensure optimum care for all stroke patients. You will work alongside Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists, specialising in stroke, as well as other members of the multi-disciplinary team, with a focus on assisting stroke patients through the various stages of their care.
Responsibilities
* Undertake a hands-on role with patients, assisting in the treatment of individuals or groups.
* Perform activities that help patients with activities of daily living, improve functional independence, and aid mobility on the Stroke Units.
* Provide a range of housekeeping and administrative duties to support the team.
* Cover some Bank holidays and work on a weekend rota within Stroke Services.
Qualifications and Experience
* Relevant recent experience in a Healthcare/Care Home environment.
* NVQ level 2 or equivalent care-based competencies.
There will be a requirement to cover some Bank holidays and work on a weekend rota within Stroke Services.
Training and Development
The post-holder will have regular supervision and in-service training sessions, with opportunities to develop clinical competencies as part of your appraisal. This post offers the opportunity to develop skills within a supportive Multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to support stroke patients throughout different stages of the stroke pathway.
Skills
* Strong communication, time management, and prioritisation skills to work as part of the MDT.
