We are currently recruiting for an experienced Shift Manager to help strengthen our depot operations management team.
In this role, you will work closely with our self-employed Owner Drivers (ODs) and Employed Drivers, building strong relationships with them and keeping the drivers engaged, well-managed, and motivated to ensure outstanding service is delivered.
Key responsibilities include:
* Achieving depot targets for Core Routes
* Achieving depot targets for Stops Per Route (SPR)
* Properly setting all other delivery & collection routes
* Ensuring drivers scan and load their vans for delivery safely, timely, and efficiently
* Maintaining ongoing communication with drivers to resolve issues
* Providing adequate resources for ad-hoc collections via your pool of drivers or couriers/agencies
* Completing all relevant documentation and systems accurately, in line with company and legislative requirements
* Setting and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including Service, Cost, Productivity, Transport, and Health & Safety
* Achieving "Depot Clear" in line with depot targets
Qualifications
What we’re looking for:
You should have experience in a fast-paced operation with proven people management skills, involving direct accountability for motivating and leading a high-performing team, ideally within a transport setting. Additionally, you will have:
* Strong communication skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and manage a team
* Decisive decision-making, problem-solving, and time management skills
* High resilience, self-motivation, and flexibility
* Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Google Chrome applications
* Ability to produce comprehensive reports and analyze data
* Vigilance against unscrupulous activity and the ability to take swift, appropriate action
