Senior Management Accountant
Skelmersdale
£45,000 - £50,000
This is an excellent opportunity for a driven Management Accountant looking to step up into a broader, more autonomous role within a multi-entity group structure. It would suit someone who has previously worked in a fast-paced environment, taking full ownership of the month-end process, and who has had exposure to audit and external reporting requirements.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives working independently, has strong technical accounting expertise, and can deliver accurate, timely financial information to support strategic decision-making and external reporting requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Management Accounts
* Full ownership of the monthly management accounts across all group entities
* Preparation of a robust monthly MI pack to a high reporting standard
* Variance analysis with clear and concise commentary on performance
* Consolidation of group financials across all entities
Balance Sheet & Controls
* Complete ownership of balance sheet reconciliations across all companies
* Ensure accuracy, integrity, and audit readiness of all financial records
* Investigate and resolve discrepancies proactively
Technical Accounting
* Management of fixed asset registers, including:
o Depreciation calculations
o Asset disposals
o Accounting for financed assets (e.g. leases/HP)
* Handling intercompany transactions and reconciliations
* Preparation and submission of VAT returns
* Management of accruals and prepayments
Payroll & Related Accounting
* Full responsibility for payroll across all entities
* Ensure payroll accuracy, compliance, and timely processing
* Reconciliation of payroll within management accounts
Group & Operational Support
* Partner with operational teams across the group
* Provide financial insight to support business performance
* Assist with audit requirements and external reporting
Key RequirementsExperience & Qualifications
* Fully qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA preferred) or qualified by experience
* Strong background in management accounting and financial reporting
* Experience working in a fast-paced environment with full month-end ownership
* Exposure to audit processes and external reporting
