The role
As a Communications Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll work as part of a small collaborative team to deliver strategic services to both national and international customers with stringent key performance indicators, with a focus on engineering and operational solutions including design, repair and modification.
Day-to-day, you’ll be a duty engineer and complete maintenance, fault repair and standby duties. You’ll be capable of working within a small but highly effective team where the highest of standards are expected from both a technical and behavioural perspective.
1. Operation and maintenance of transmitters and associated equipment as part of the engineering team to agreed standards
2. Maintain technical and administrative records and provide information as required
3. Give technical support and work independently on specialist projects as required
4. Undertake first line fault investigation and assist with fault rectification and module repair
5. Be part of a field service team and point of contact for helpdesk queries as required
6. Carry out lone working duties at appropriate sites, in accordance with Health and Safety Regulations
The successful candidate will be expected to work a flexible schedule, including night and weekend shifts, as required.
This role is full time, 37.5-hours per week and is based on site at Skelton.
Essential experience of the Communications Engineer
7. Comprehensive knowledge of current safe working practices and safety procedures
8. Practical experience of transmitter operation and maintenance
9. Basic workshop skills including hand and power tools
10. Appropriate ICT knowledge
Qualifications for the Communications Engineer
11. Engineer qualified to NVQ-4 (HNC/HND) level
12. Full UK driving licence

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance for this role.
