The post holder will be responsible for providing engineering support to assist in the delivery of high-quality equipment management within the trust. The role involves implementing best practice solutions for planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and equipment asset management, as well as providing effective medical equipment support to various wards and departments.
Based in the Medical Equipment Department, the successful candidate will support other core areas as required.
Main Duties of the Job
The Medical Equipment Department seeks a Mechanical Technician with a background preferably gained in a complex electronic services or healthcare environment to join the Equipment Team.
The role involves maintaining complex equipment associated with a hospital trust, including monitoring, diagnostic, and surgical systems. Additional training will be provided to meet the person specification.
The vacancy is based at Winchester Hospital, with work at Andover War Memorial Hospital and other Trust sites.
The ideal candidate will have good communication skills, an empathetic approach to staff and patients, be adaptable, willing to learn new skills, and able to work independently or as part of a team. Physical ability and agility for manual handling are required.
A current full UK driving license is essential.

Person Specification
Training
* Electronic engineering NVQ 4 minimum
* Emergency first aid training
* Recent medical equipment training courses (within last 4 years)
Experience & Knowledge
* Structured training in electro-mechanical engineering for at least three years
* Awareness of health and safety legislation related to electronic equipment testing
* Experience working in an acute hospital environment
* Experience with preventative maintenance schedules and asset management systems
Skills & Ability
* Ability to self-manage and work independently
