Press and PR Officer
Grade: EL, Salary:£41,788.54 per annum plus £3,500 out of hours allowance
Location: London (hybrid working policy, must facilitate in‑person interviews at short notice)

More patients are seen in general practice than any other part of the NHS – and the Royal College of GPs represents those doctors who provide that care. As the UK’s largest medical Royal College, we are the “voice” of GPs on the issues that matter most to them and their patients. With a general election on the horizon this voice is more important than ever.
Responsibilities
* Handle queries from Health Editors and Correspondents from the UK’s most well‑known print and broadcast outlets.
* Work directly with the country’s top doctors, ghost‑write comments in their names and provide strategic advice ahead of interviews.
* Source, write and produce articles for the College’s online membership magazine GP Frontline.
* Lead proactive PR campaigns and support crisis communications situations.
Qualifications
* Press office experience – ideally within a national membership organisation or a health‑based environment – or a background as a journalist.
* Experience in proactive PR campaigns and crisis communications.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to work knowledgeably and confidently with journalists and senior College spokespeople.
* Proactive, initiative‑driven with excellent judgment and risk management skills.
* Ability to manage competing deadlines.
