We are excited to advertise a full‑time Interventional Radiologist post in Radiology services at University College London Hospitals, based in the Radiology Department at UCH. The post requires subspecialty experience in interventional radiology, as well as general/on‑cology cross‑sectional radiology, to support the delivery of radiology services. The department is active in teaching and research, and the post‑holder is expected to contribute to these activities.
The post includes two funded research sessions per week for two years; the successful applicant will use this time to develop a portfolio of clinical research within interventional radiology and may pursue further funding to continue an academic career. A doctoral‑level research degree (MD/PhD) should be in progress or completed, and an established track record in research is desirable.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high‑quality consultant‑level interventional radiology care within a major London teaching hospital, contributing to elective and emergency services and managing complex cases within a multidisciplinary setting.
* Develop and enhance the imaging service provided to acute, outpatient and inpatient services, strengthening the department’s reporting profile.
* Participate in teaching, training, supervision and mentorship of trainees and students.
* Participate in audit and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
* Perform most aspects of vascular and non‑vascular interventional radiology, including uro‑radiology and HPB.
* Support the interventional radiology on‑call rota (currently 1 in 7).
Academic and Research Responsibilities
* Lead and contribute to clinical research, including development and delivery of research studies, grant activity, and dissemination through publication and presentation.
* Work with the UCL Centre for Medical Imaging (CMI) and support the academic development of the department.
* Apply for further funding to continue a career as a medical academic in IR.
Qualifications
* Applicants must possess the FRCR or equivalent and be on the specialist register or within 6 months of obtaining their CCT.
* Subspecialty experience in interventional radiology and general/on‑cology cross‑sectional radiology.
* Doctoral‑level research degree (MD/PhD) in progress or completed.
The post is accountable to the Divisional Clinical Director and is part of the Imaging Division of the Surgery and Cancer Clinical Board.
