As a Practice Education Facilitator (PEF) at Liverpool Clinical Laboratories (LCL), you will play a strategic and operational role in designing, delivering, and evaluating high‑quality, multi‑professional education and training. You will coordinate competency sign‑off, support HCPC and IBMS portfolio development, lead CPD initiatives, and work collaboratively across LCL to ensure consistency, innovation, and excellence in training delivery.


Education & Training

* Develop and deliver structured training programmes, including Health & Safety.
* Support competency‑based training frameworks.
* Coordinate student placements and mentorship.
* Create teaching materials and assessment tools.
* Promote digital and blended learning.
* Design preceptorship programmes for newly registered Biomedical Scientists.
* Develop career pathways and support CPD activities.


Quality Assurance & Governance

* Lead training audits and monitor compliance.
* Maintain training records and data systems.
* Contribute to service improvement and policy development.
* Use data to inform workforce planning and training needs.


Collaboration & Communication

* Build relationships across LCL and external partners.
* Champion inter‑professional learning and NHS scientific careers.
* Provide updates and reports to leadership.


Professional Development

* Support staff in identifying learning needs.
* Facilitate CPD and mentor development.
* Maintain own HCPC registration and professional growth.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and, as such, this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020. A Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service will be required.


Qualifications

* Degree in a relevant healthcare discipline (IBMS‑accredited or equivalent).
* HCPC registration.
* MSc in a relevant Biomedical Science discipline (or similar experience).
* Desirable: Leadership/management qualification.
* Desirable: Evidence of CPD and/or postgraduate qualification in education or training.
* Desirable: Teaching and assessing qualification (or willingness to work towards).
* Desirable: NEBOSH or IOSH Qualification; significant experience in a laboratory setting.
* Desirable: Proven track record in delivering education and training.
* Desirable: Experience in quality assurance, audit, or service improvement.
* Desirable: Experience in team management, supervision, and introducing new practices.
* Desirable: Strong understanding of educational frameworks, regulatory standards, and quality assurance.
* Desirable: Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
* Desirable: Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant digital learning platforms.
* Desirable: Ability to manage projects, prioritise workload, and work independently.
* Desirable: Knowledge of inter‑professional learning theory and curriculum development.
* Desirable: Strong project planning and organisational skills.
* Desirable: Ability to analyse training needs and develop appropriate responses.
* Desirable: Ability to provide pastoral support to learners.
* Desirable: Ability to engage and build effective relationships at all levels in stakeholder organisation.
* Desirable: Ability to present to large groups of people.
* Desirable: Ability to teach and facilitate in a variety of settings with different groups of staff.
* Desirable: Ability to plan, implement and evaluate education programmes.
* Desirable: Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
* Desirable: Excellent time management skills; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Desirable: Ability to work without supervision and use own initiative.
* Desirable: Ability to work flexibly and manage competing priorities.
* Desirable: Consistently high attention to detail and quality of work.
* Desirable: Ability to work as a member of a team.
* Desirable: Adaptability to meet differing learning styles / preferences.
* Desirable: Ability to write evidence‑based reports.
* Desirable: Ability to supervise staff on a day‑to‑day basis. You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
