Job Title : Teaching Assistant Location : Portland, Dorset Contract Type : Full-time, Permanent/Temporary Salary : Market Related Start Date : September 2025 About the Role : Teaching Personnel is currently looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistants for primary schools in Portland, Dorset. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive and inclusive environment, helping to ensure that children receive the highest quality education. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support children’s learning, assist with classroom activities, and provide individual or small group support where necessary. Key Responsibilities : Assist the class teacher in delivering lessons and supporting pupils with their learning. Provide one-on-one or small group support for pupils with varying needs, including SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities). Help prepare classroom resources and materials. Manage classroom behaviour effectively to create a positive learning environment. Support with assessments and track pupils' progress. Foster a caring and supportive relationship with pupils to encourage their development and wellbeing. Requirements : Experience working with children, ideally in a teaching or educational support role. A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with young learners. Enhanced DBS check (Teaching Personnel can assist with this process if necessary).
