 
        
        Principal Psychologist - Community / Home Based Berkshire
Location: Home Counties (can be based anywhere in the UK; must travel to Berkshire or Northamptonshire once a month)
Salary: £62,588 per annum, pro‑rated according to experience
Contract: 12‑month fixed term (part‑time, 22.5 hours per week, 3 days per week, flexible)
Band: NHS Band 8a (Career Level C, Expert)
This role is part of the Outpatients Service, which holds a good CQC rating. The Principal Psychologist will deliver outcome‑based psychological therapy tailored to clients in the community and work in close partnership with probation offices and other community partners.
Key Responsibilities
 * Provide psychological assessment and interventions for clients within the Criminal Justice System, following the MHTR framework and St Andrews policies.
 * Work independently with a plan agreed for each client, and document interventions within the required time‑frames.
 * Supervise assistant psychologists in a manualised treatment approach, providing coaching and support.
 * Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on complex cases and share expertise on service development.
 * Engage in regular clinical supervision with a consultant psychologist and contribute to research and innovation initiatives.
 * Travel to client localities as required; provide remote care via telephone or video where appropriate.
Qualifications & Experience
 * Full HCPC registration.
 * Experience working with community‑based mental health services and within the Criminal Justice System.
 * Skills in evidence‑based therapies such as CBT, EMDR and Compassion Focused Therapy (desirable but will be supported).
 * Strong organisational and communication skills; ability to manage a busy caseload.
