Are you a caring, empathetic and supportive individual with expertise in the development of pastoral needs?

If you have experience of working in a pastoral setting and the ability to positively encourage and influence the learning of our students, we would love to hear from you.

As a Support Manager for an individual year group within years 7 - 11 you will be responsible for providing pastoral support to students and support them in the effective management of non-teaching issues which may impact on student attainment.

In this role, you will:

1. Act as one of the initial points of contact for parents regarding attendance issues, providing routine advice and guidance as required, explaining attendance expectations to parents in accordance with school policies
2. Work with individual students and their families implementing strategies to improve attendance and punctuality, ensuring records are kept and feedback is provided to appropriate individuals
3. Ensure all school procedures relating to attendance and lateness are followed and recorded with any unauthorised absence investigated, and sanctions issued in accordance with school policy
4. Undertake supervision duties immediately before school, at break and lunchtimes to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students and ensure the appropriate standards of behaviour are maintained

To be successful in this role, you will have:

5. Experience of working in a similar role or setting, with the appropriate knowledge and skills equivalent to national qualifications at level 3 or the equivalent
6. Good interpersonal skills, excellent communication, listening and observation skills and the ability to build rapport, support, engage and motivate others
7. The ability to deal with difficult, sensitive or conflicting situations with an empathetic approach
8. Knowledge of school policies relating to conduct, behaviour, attendance and dress code; with a demonstratable understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding and child protection issues within a school setting
