The Company
You will be joining an organisation synonymous with engineering excellence, developing leading power generation technology solutions for customers in the marine, construction, agricultural, rail and defence sectors (amongst others). A genuine leader in their field, this company provides comprehensive training for engineers to reflect developing and emerging technology in its product range. Customer relationships are key; the Service Engineer will have a clear track record of delivering added value services in client-facing roles.
The Ideal Candidate
* Experience in the mechanical and electrical maintenance of diesel engines and/or propulsion systems and associated electrical control technology, ECU (Electronic Control Unit).
* Qualified to NVQ3 (minimum) with demonstrable fault diagnostics and remote diagnostics and conditioning experience.
* Prepared to work in a highly safety-critical customer location and undertake pre-employment checks including medicals, drug and alcohol screens.
* Applications welcome from ex-forces personnel (e.g., RAF, Royal Navy, British Army) or engineers in Marine, Rail, Automotive, HGV or Bus sectors. This is a great opportunity to move towards the Rail sector.
The Role
As the Vehicle Technician, you will carry out fault diagnostics on modern diesel engines, download data, and work with ECU familiarity. Full product training will be provided. Service Engineers act as product experts to ensure performance and availability for diesel engines in rolling stock. The role involves hands-on work and remote diagnostic activities to obtain, evaluate and interpret data to identify likely faults before physically inspecting the engine. This represents intermediate fault-finding and fault resolution through effective condition monitoring.

* Download and interpret data from ECU and related control systems.
* Utilise remote diagnostics to identify potential faults and condition-monitoring indicators.
* Provide exceptional customer service in field-based settings and maintain safety standards.
