Position: Mechanical Engineer

Hours: 12-hour shifts, 4 on / 4 off – Days & Nights
Contract: Full-time, permanent
The Opportunity
An established recycling and renewable energy facility in Doncaster is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the maintenance and reliability of its plant operations. This role offers the chance to work in a modern, sustainable environment with advanced process equipment, operating on a 4 on / 4 off days and nights shift pattern.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform day-to-day maintenance, inspection, and repair of plant and machinery.
* Undertake planned preventative maintenance on equipment such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, and valves.
* Conduct risk assessments and work in line with Health & Safety requirements.
* Respond promptly to SCADA alarms and process faults, carrying out corrective actions.
* Manage reactive maintenance tasks and ensure accurate completion of logs and check sheets.
* Support and supervise contractors when working on-site.
* Install, maintain, and upgrade equipment to minimise downtime and support production reliability.
* Contribute to continuous improvement projects and site compliance audits.
What We're Looking For
* Apprentice-trained or NVQ Level 3 qualified Mechanical Engineer, ideally with experience in heavy process, recycling, or energy sectors.
* Strong technical knowledge of rotating equipment (pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves).
* Safety-conscious with experience carrying out risk assessments.
* Capable of fault-finding and problem-solving in a fast-paced industrial setting.
* Flexible and reliable, with the ability to work across both days and nights on a 4 on / 4 off rotation.
