This post is fixed term / secondment until 31/03/2026 due to funding.

The post holder will work to support the role of the Health Visitor in ensuring the public health programme is carried out within the designated pre school population. Based within a community setting, the Nursery Nurse will provide a service to families as identified in the needs assessment carried out by the Health Visitor. He/she will take a key role in delivering parent support; health promotion and programmes of care. The post holder will be a team player and contribute to the overall health care offered to individuals, families and communities


Main duties of the job

We are looking for a self-motivated team player who has excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills. To work with a multi-agency Flying Start team to achieve the Welsh Assembly Government initiative scheme, targeting Communities in need to provide enhanced local services within a multi agency setting.The post holder will facilitate one to one, group and community work that aims to address Health inequalities in partnership with the wider multi-skilled team. He/she will take a key role in delivering parent support, health promotion and programmes of care. He/she will provide a service to families as identified in the needs assessment carried out by the Health Visitor and undertake planned packages of support through implementing and evaluating planned programmes of care. In addition, the post holder will contribute to the public health role in line with government public health initiatives.The Health Board offers an Induction Course and ongoing Clinical Supervision and support from its Safeguarding Children Team and opportunities for in house training.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Basic Education + NVQ (level 4) in health & social care (whilst working with children) or equivalent qualification
* NNEB/National diploma in childhood studies


Other

* oMotivated.

* oWelsh speaking
* oStress management.


Knowledge

* Awareness of the Children's NSF and working knowledge of child protection procedures
* Child development
* Awareness of child behaviour management techniques
* Knowledge of play activities related to child development
* Knowledge of behaviour management techniques
* Knowledge of recent advances in the sphere of public health.
* Knowledge of local and national initiatives impacting on health and service provision.


Skills

* Good organisational skills.
* Ability to plan own work
* Ability to work in a team and develop a good working relationship with other agencies
* Clear communication methods for young people and carers/parents with a disability


Experience

* Previous experience of working with infants and children and parents/carers
* Experience in community or health related field

£27,898 to £30,615 a yearper annum pro rata
