Leaders understand that behaviour is communication and are committed to supporting children through empathy, consistency, and structured routines. The school is now seeking a compassionate Behaviour Mentor to support pupils across EYFS and Key Stage 1.
The Role
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will support children who struggle with emotional regulation, social interaction, and behaviour in school. Many pupils may have additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or SEMH needs.
You will work closely with teaching staff to provide targeted interventions, emotional support, and practical strategies to help children succeed academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver targeted behaviour and emotional support interventions
* Provide 1:1 mentoring and small group sessions
* Support children within the classroom and during playtimes
* Help pupils develop emotional awareness and self-regulation
* Implement consistent behaviour strategies across the school day
* Liaise with teachers, SENCO, and pastoral staff
* Observe, track, and report on pupil progress
* Support transitions between activities and key stages
* Build positive relationships with families and carers
* Maintain safeguarding standards at all times
The Ideal Candidate
You will be empathetic, resilient, and passionate about working with young children. Experience in a Primary, Nursery, or early years environment is highly valued.
You should demonstrate:
* Experience supporting behaviour in early years or primary settings
* Understanding of SEND and SEMH needs
* A calm and consistent approach to behaviour support
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Backgrounds in childcare, psychology, youth work, education, or pastoral support are welcomed.
