The Opportunity
Perpl is seeking a founding Senior Smart Contract Engineer (EVM) to help architect, implement, and secure our core smart contracts. As one of the earliest engineering hires, you’ll play a critical role in building the infrastructure powering on-chain derivatives at scale.
In this role, you will:
* Design and implement mission-critical smart contracts for the Perpl CLOB and vault system
* Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and quant teams to ensure robustness and capital efficiency
* Define testing, simulation, and on-chain monitoring standards for security and reliability
* Serve as Perpl’s in-house expert on the EVM, Monad’s unique performance characteristics, and gas optimization
* Own the full lifecycle of smart contract development from design → audit → deployment → upgrade
Qualifications
Required
* 3+ years of experience building and maintaining EVM smart contracts in production
* Strong knowledge of Solidity, low-level EVM mechanics, and gas optimization strategies
* Proven ability to work with external auditors and internal security reviews
* Experience designing DeFi protocols or financial primitives (DEXs, AMMs, margin trading, oracles, etc.)
* High agency and ownership mindset—comfortable in a fast-moving, zero-to-one environment
* Passion for decentralized finance and a deep understanding of the DeFi landscape
Preferred
* Familiarity with parallelized EVM architectures
* Experience with Rust or other statically typed languages
* Background in quant trading, HFT, or crypto derivatives
* Understanding of chain infra, monitoring, and validator/client dynamics
Location
In-person first with optional work from home flexibility. Team is currently headquartered in London with a few members distributed globally.
