In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, provide a service in Renal Medicine with responsibility for provision and development of all aspects and modalities within Renal services and to collaborate across all disciplines including primary care, where appropriate, to achieve an integrated service for patients
In conjunction with Consultant and Senior colleagues, participate in the out-of-hours On-Call service for the department. This includes being on-call for telephone advice and major incidents.

The candidate will work in a team comprising of 10 Renal Physicians, 2 Matrons, 1 Nurse Consultant, 6 Specialist Nurses, 41 Ward Nurses, 6 Senior Clinical Fellows, 4 Medical/Clinical SpR's and 18 Juniors. The medical ward cover currently comprises 1 Registrar and 4 Junior doctors. All medical staff participate in the general medical rota and have acute inpatient and outpatient general medicine responsibilities.

At Newcross, West Park and Cannock Hospitals there are 871 general and acute beds (including paediatric beds) The Renal and Diabetes Directorate has 142 acute beds, therefore forming the biggest bed base for Division 2. Renal has a total of 76 beds, spanning across the below acute medical wards.
* C22 is a mixed sex ward. In addition to providing high quality in-patient care out-patient biopsy procedures also take place on this ward.
* C24 is a 28 bedded female only ward.
* C25 cares for male patients and has 28 beds.
The wards accept patients from other hospitals for renal treatment/assessments. The renal wards provide an out of hours service for our peritoneal dialysis patients assessing, providing advice and delivering care and treatment when needed.
In terms of outpatient care, dedicated general nephrology, transplant, low clearance, haemodialysis and PD review clinics take place. There is an extensive Palliative Care Service for patients for whom dialysis is not appropriate. Out-patient Nephrology clinics are held at New Cross Hospital, Walsall Manor Hospital and Cannock Chase Hospital.
