Friends of the Elderly (FotE) is a not-for-profit charity dedicated to providing excellent care with a family feel. We have been supporting older people for over 120 years and provide care home and day care services for older people, as well as grants for older people in financial difficulty.
This role is an exciting opportunity for a Unit Manager (internally called Clinical Lead) to join our team at Davenham, Bradbury Court and Perrins House in Malvern. The homes specialise in care for people with dementia, as well as residential and nursing care, with a dedicated, well-trained and compassionate team.
Working closely with the General Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring residents receive the best possible care while fostering a positive, supportive environment for staff to thrive. The role involves leading the care and nursing teams, ensuring high standards of clinical practice and resident wellbeing, overseeing care delivery, maintaining accurate records, and liaising with external healthcare professionals to meet residents’ needs with dignity and respect.
You will deputise for the General Manager when required and contribute to the continued success of the service. This position requires registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., NMC) and experience in a similar role within older people’s care, with a good understanding of CQC regulations, the Health and Social Care Act and adult safeguarding.
Working hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday with occasional out of hours work and occasional weekends/evenings).
Responsibilities
* Provide professional guidance and leadership to the care and nursing teams.
* Ensure the highest standards of clinical practice and resident wellbeing.
* Oversee care delivery and maintain accurate records.
* Liaise with external healthcare professionals to meet residents’ needs with dignity, respect and sensitivity.
* Deputise for the General Manager when required and support the overall management of the service.
* Manage incidents and contribute to root cause analysis and action planning.
* Communicate effectively with staff, residents and external stakeholders, with strong emphasis on safeguarding and safeguarding-related issues.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Registered with a relevant body (e.g., NMC).
* Proven experience in a similar unit/clinical lead role within older people’s care.
* Good understanding of CQC regulations, the Health and Social Care Act and adult safeguarding.
* Strong communication and leadership skills; comfortable interfacing with external health professionals.
* Experience with incident analysis and the completion of root cause analysis reports and action plans.
* Commitment to safeguarding and a people-centred approach to care.
