Job Summary
This role supports the Digitisation Strategy of the NHSBSA. As manager of the user experience research team you will lead pro‑active research projects, create actionable insights, mentor junior researchers and drive the delivery of high‑quality research outputs that inform digital service design and improvement.

Responsibilities
* Lead and conduct user experience research projects, creating deliverables that provide in‑depth, actionable insights.
* Plan, design and facilitate interviews, workshops and usability testing sessions that support digital service design and development.
* Conduct in‑house research to test concept developments and prototypes using a wide range of quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
* Collaborate with design and development teams to translate user research data into product/service requirements and influence product direction.
* Manage the research team, ensuring robust research methodologies, consistent outputs and a culture of continuous improvement.
* Mentor junior researchers and promote best practices in research ethics, methodology and agile delivery.
* Present research findings and recommendations to senior decision makers inside and outside the organisation.
* Stay ahead of emerging user experience and customer insight techniques and propose changes to improve service delivery.

Person Specification
Essential skills and experience
* Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
* Highly computer literate and confident in explaining research insights to senior stakeholders.
* Extensive experience in a variety of research methodologies, delivering user research outputs from qualitative and quantitative research.
* Demonstrable knowledge, experience and passion for user‑centred design practices.
* Strong communication skills and ability to influence senior managers and teams.
* Agile mindset, flexibility and perseverance in delivering research projects within deadlines.
Desirable skills
* Familiarity with collaborative tools such as JIRA and Trello.
Qualifications
* First degree or equivalent qualifications in a relevant business‑related discipline.
* Trained Government Digital Service researcher or equivalent professional qualification (MRS or similar).
