Transport Compliance Auditor
Location: Cullompton
Job Description: Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Transport Compliance Auditor to carry out regular on-site audits across our fast-paced, nationwide transport and logistics operations. Key audit locations include the Southwest, Wales, and Scotland. Our preferred candidate will be based between Exeter and Bristol; however, other locations may be considered for internal applicants. This is a field-based role, primarily involving weekly on-site compliance audits. When not in the field, you will be allocated a workspace within a suitable regional office.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Complete on-site audits at nationwide operating centres, focusing on operator licence obligations and group transport policies and procedures.
2. Use technological tools to review and analyse fleet operations, tachograph records, reporting systems, and overall compliance.
3. Conduct interviews with transport personnel at operating centres to assess their knowledge and understanding of operator licence obligations and group transport policies and procedures.
4. Carry out load security and gate checks as part of the compliance audit, ensuring adherence to guidance, training, and best practices.
5. Hold post-audit discussions with senior management to highlight areas for improvement.
6. Produce clear and concise audit reports identifying areas of non-compliance.
7. Develop action plans following audits to mitigate risk and ensure compliance.
8. Manage issued action plans within agreed timeframes through to closure.
9. Provide support and training to transport teams to enhance operator compliance.
10. Influence key stakeholders, including General Managers and Transport Managers, regarding operator licence obligations, group policies, and working practices.
11. Analyse audit findings to identify trends and patterns that can improve group-wide compliance.
12. Demonstrate flexibility to travel across group sites and to schedule, plan, and deliver audits in line with the annual audit plan, taking full responsibility for individual assignments from planning through to issuing audit reports and action plans.
13. Support the Audit Manager in delivering the group internal audit plan and in developing and deploying best practices.
14. Identify internal policies and procedures that require updates to reflect changes in legislative frameworks.
15. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues at all levels across the group, supporting the development of a compliant culture.
Requirements:
16. Experience working in an auditing role within distribution and warehousing.
17. Understanding of DVSA Operator Licence procedures.
18. Holder of a National CPC.
19. Knowledge of fleet and tachograph management systems.
20. Experience in conducting audit plans.
21. Highly self-motivated, resilient, and adaptable to change.
22. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data effectively.
23. Meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
24. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
25. Excellent organisational and time management skills.
26. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
27. Proficient in MS Office packages including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
28. Holder of a valid UK driving licence.
