Hours: 21 hours per week (0.6 FTE)
Location: 29-31 Montgomery Street, Belfast

Remuneration: £25,476 - £27,919 Pro-rata
Overall Purpose of Post
The Volunteer Engagement Co-ordinator is responsible for volunteer retention and co-ordination across the organisation. The role ensures adherence to our data management strategy, effective monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes. The postholder facilitates volunteer recruitment, induction, and support to meet organisational needs and contributes to service development, promoting good practice in service delivery, evaluation, and quality assurance, in collaboration with Service Leads & SMT.
Key Responsibilities
1. Volunteer Co-ordination
2. Refine volunteer recruitment processes to meet organisational needs and support all departments.
3. Oversee the volunteer database for effective maintenance.
4. Maintain an inventory of volunteer needs, skills, and abilities, and track volunteer activities and hours.
5. Process Access NI checks for relevant volunteers.
6. Collaborate with department leads to keep role descriptions, induction, training, and evaluation up to date.
7. Organise and deliver relevant training, developing new volunteer initiatives.
8. Represent the service locally and in the wider community, developing links with other agencies to promote volunteering.
9. Implement activities to promote volunteer retention, including recognition systems.
10. Maintain communication with volunteers, providing updates and feedback.
11. Monitor and report on volunteer activities and impact, ensuring best practices in volunteer management.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
Develop and support effective processes for monitoring and evaluating volunteer services, assessing outcomes, and capturing volunteer experiences through case studies and surveys, aligning with funding requirements.
Quality Assurance and Development
Support review and development of volunteer policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legislation and promoting diversity and inclusion.
Data and Information Management
Follow reporting mechanisms for data collection and management, analyze statistics, and ensure GDPR compliance.
External Relationships
Build and develop stakeholder relationships, attend external meetings, and develop partnerships with statutory, voluntary, and private sectors.
General
Work as part of a team, promote Cancer Focus NI, and undertake additional duties as required. Willing to undertake training, including Safeguarding, with flexibility for evening and weekend work.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
* Experience in delivering training and organising events for volunteers.
* Experience managing people or volunteers.
* Relevant work experience with GCSE English and Maths.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and negotiation skills.
* IT proficiency, including spreadsheets and databases.
* Ability to work independently and in teams.
* Adaptable, empathetic, and supportive attitude.
* Full valid driving licence and access to transport.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience in health and social care, community engagement, and volunteer involvement.
* Relevant training and management qualifications.
