Engineering Buyer
Location: Braintree, Essex
Salary: £35,000
Pure Resourcing are currently supporting a market-leading engineering business as they look to strengthen their procurement team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong organisational skills and a technical mindset to develop within a busy, engineering-led purchasing environment.
Whether you’re already working in procurement or you’re in an engineering support role and want to move into buying, this position offers excellent long-term development in a stable and well-respected business.
A background in engineering is useful, but not essential — what matters most is your ability to understand technical information, communicate confidently, and manage purchasing activity with accuracy and professionalism.
The Role:
You’ll play a key role in supporting the flow of materials into the business, ensuring production teams have what they need to run smoothly. Your responsibilities will include:
Handling day-to-day purchasing of materials and everything needed to keep production running smoothly
Working alongside engineering and workshop teams to understand their requirements
Reviewing quotations, updating pricing, and maintaining supplier information
Monitoring order progress and keeping production informed of any changes
Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships
Assisting with cost-saving initiatives and supporting quality investigations
Carrying out general procurement administration and record keepingYour background:

We’d love to see:
Experience in procurement, engineering administration, or similar roles
Confidence working with technical information or engineering drawings
Good communication skills with the ability to build rapport with suppliers
Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
A proactive, detail-focused approach to maintaining purchasing data
Competence in Microsoft Office
Experience using MRP/ERP systems
