Job Description
Your main focus will be to develop and progress the Hazardous Waste (HW) regulatory reform associated with the Waste Tracking Service (WTS). This is an exciting role where you can truly make a difference!
The Hazardous Waste Regulatory Reform Project Lead will play a pivotal role in navigating complex regulatory landscapes, implementing reforms, and driving the project to successful completion. Your expertise will be highly beneficial and contribute significantly to the reform's success.
Responsibilities include:
1. Coordinating and collating input from EA HW teams regarding regulatory and policy requirements of the regime.
2. Providing technical input to the EA Waste Tracking team.
3. Advising the Defra digital team on the development and design of the Waste Tracking Service to ensure it meets business needs.
4. Providing technical insight/feedback into Defra policy discussions to ensure the regulatory requirements of the Hazardous Waste Regime are incorporated into the Waste Tracking Service.
5. Engaging with devolved nations regarding Waste Tracking Service requirements.
Additional duties include:
1. Leading on future Hazardous Waste charging proposals and consultations, advising on technical aspects and links to waste tracking.
2. Supporting wider regulatory reform related to the Hazardous Waste Regulations.
3. Contributing to the wider Hazardous Waste team and supporting team objectives.

The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing team within the Regime Regulation team of E&B Waste Regulation. We support government, industry, and colleagues to ensure hazardous waste is managed properly.
