Home Birth Midwife

We have an exciting opportunity for an midwife who is passionate about physiological birth and supporting women to birth at home to join our Team of experienced home birth midwives. We are Artemis Home Birth, an established continuity team for women and their families who are planning home births. We provide all our care at home from booking throughout the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods. We have a named consultant obstetrician and are supported by the wider MDT team including our specialist and consultant midwives. You will be a B6 midwife with significant experience of all aspects of midwifery care. You will need to be a confident and competent autonomous practitioner and able to demonstrate understanding, kindness and compassion for a caseload that includes women choosing to birth outside of guidance. You will be supported by the Team at every step of your journey. We'd like you to be NIPE trained and have NLS certification but can support you to gain these if not yet achieved. You will need to be a car owner/driver.
Main duties of the job
Some of the key duties of the job include:
* Fundamentally required to undertake all clinical activities that are required of a midwife
* Responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care in accordance with best practice
* Demonstrate clinical expertise and act as a professional role model
* Undertake continual assessment and analysis providing continuity of carer throughout pregnancy, birth and postnatal period to ensure women/birthing people's clinical, psychological and social needs are assessed and holistically cared for
* Provide and perform accurate assessments and procedures during antenatal appointments, labour care (including supporting home birth, water birth, perineal suturing, cannulation and intravenous administration of drugs) and in the postnatal period
* Continuously develop clinical skills to meet the needs of the woman/birthing person, babies and families
* Organise and participate in the provision of parent education
* Support women/birthing people's choices regarding feeding their infant, whilst encouraging and promoting UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiatives
* Participate in a 24 hour on call service in partnership or within the caseload team to encourage continuity and flexibility to meet the needs of the service
* Undertake home visits and assessments within the outpatient area using own car as transport

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Midwife
* Mentorship qualification or SSSA equivalent
* Significant clinical experience
* Further Education in Midwifery
* NLS accreditation
Experience
* Evidence of continuous professional development
* Significant post Registration experience in all aspects of midwifery practice
* Previous experience delivering care at woman/birthing people's home
Skills and knowledge
* Excellent clinical midwifery skills and knowledge
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Competence in cannulation and suturing
Personal attributes
* Flexible, responsive approach to work
* Has access to own car
