We are seeking an enthusiastic Consultant to take on the role of Endoscopy Clinical Lead for the Endoscopy Department as part of the General Surgery Directorate at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.
This role is for 1 x PAs per week and is open to apply for Gastroenterologist and Surgical Consultants
The appointed candidate will have the opportunity to work within a supportive Triumvirate and Division, and to give leadership on clinical standards and operational management within the Directorate against JAG standard
The role is advertised for a fixed term 3 years contract, 1x PA per week.
Main duties of the job
The endoscopy lead provides clinical leadership to the endoscopy service to oversee governance and ensure clinical effectiveness and productivity. The clinical lead acts as a senior member of the clinical team, provides appropriate clinical guidance and is the subject matter expert in endoscopy for the operational teams and throughout the broader organisation.
This will be done in coordination with other members of the endoscopy leadership team, lead nurses from both sites, managerial lead and administrative lead for the department. They also need to ensure that there is a prominent training agenda in the department by working with the training lead. The endoscopy lead needs to ensure that patient safety is at the heart of the processes within the service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful applicant will be expected to undertake clinics, administrative duties, diagnostic procedures at both clinic sites.
This is an excellent opportunity to lead a dynamic and innovative team. The Endoscopy Department is governed by General Surgery.
There are two Endoscopy units between the two sites with 6 Endoscopy rooms, 19 recovery bays.
We perform an average of 1500 procedures per month (Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, EMR/ESD, EUS, ERCP, Respiratory)
We have 24 hours- 7 days a week bleed rota covered by Gastroenterology Medical team.
We have a team of 9 Clinical Endoscopist that are involved in the day to day endoscopy activity and responsible for nurse-led clinics and research projects.
We are the Training Hub for Kent and Medway as part of the Endoscopy South East Academy, responsible for enhancing training in Kent and Medway for the entire endoscopic workforce.

General
Essential criteria
1. Registered clinician in good standing with regulatory body.
2. Ability to take full and independent responsibility of endoscopic procedure( Upper GI, Lower GI or Both)
