Our client are a leading mechanical services contractor specialising in the design, installation, and maintenance of air conditioning, ventilation, and HVAC systems for commercial, industrial, and high-spec residential projects. Their reputation is built on technical expertise, high-quality installations, and long-term client partnerships.\n\nAs part of their continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Legal Contracts Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of contract administration, dispute resolution, and commercial risk management across their portfolio of projects.\n\nRole Purpose\n\nThe Legal Contracts Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for ensuring all commercial activities comply with contractual obligations, industry standards, and legal requirements. This role will focus on NEC and JCT contract administration, cost control, claims management, and legal risk mitigation within the HVAC sector.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Contract Administration – Review, negotiate, and manage NEC and JCT contracts to ensure compliance and protect the company’s commercial interests.\n\n * Legal & Commercial Risk Management – Identify potential risks, disputes, or contractual breaches early, and provide recommendations for resolution.\n\n * Claims & Variations – Prepare and submit variations, extensions of time, and claims in line with contractual requirements.\n\n * Cost & Budget Control – Oversee project budgets, valuations, and final accounts to maximise profitability.\n\n * Dispute Resolution – Liaise with legal teams and clients to resolve disputes efficiently, including adjudication or mediation if required.\n\n * Stakeholder Engagement – Work closely with clients, subcontractors, and internal project teams to maintain strong commercial relationships.\n\n * Procurement Oversight – Support subcontractor and supplier procurement processes to ensure terms align with main contract requirements.\n\n * Reporting – Produce monthly cost and contract performance reports for senior management.\n\nKey Requirements\n\n * Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a focus on legal contracts and dispute resolution.\n\n * Strong knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract.\n\n * Background in mechanical services, HVAC, or ventilation projects (essential).\n\n * Excellent understanding of contract law, commercial risk, and claims processes.\n\n * Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.\n\n * Proficient in Microsoft Office and cost management software.\n\n * HNC/Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Law, or related discipline.\n\n * MRICS or working towards professional accreditation (desirable).\n\nBenefits\n\n * Competitive salary + car allowance\n\n * Pension scheme and private healthcare\n\n * 25 days holiday + bank holidays\n\n * Ongoing professional development and training\n\n * Opportunity to work on high-profile mechanical and ventilation projects across the North West
