Y ou'll lead upgrade kits, retrofit solutions and lifecycle improvements across complex electromechanical systems, ensuring designs are safe, compliant and manufacturable. This role blends design ownership, cross‑discipline engineering leadership and structured project delivery across a global installed base. Responsibilities of the Engineering Manager Design Authority & Technical Leadership Own design authority for service upgrades and retrofit solutions Lead mechanical, electrical, software and systems design reviews Approve engineering solutions for compliance, safety and manufacturability Ensure adherence to CE, ISO, RoHS, REACH, SEMI and internal standards Promote strong engineering discipline and documentation Project & Programme Delivery Turn roadmap requirements into structured engineering projects Lead phase‑gate execution, milestones and resource planning Maintain delivery momentum in a changing environment Reduce rework through strong up‑front scoping and technical clarity Lifecycle, Reliability & Performance Improve reliability using FMEA, 8D, RCA and Weibull Use field data and customer insights to drive product upgrades Enhance uptime, serviceability and lifecycle cost Prevent warranty issues through validated, robust designs Cross‑Functional & Global Collaboration Work with UK hubs in Bristol & Burgess Hill Collaborate across EMEA, US and Asia Align engineering with manufacturing, applications and technical support Requirements for the Engineering Manager Role Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Systems or similar Experience across both Design AND Manufacturing environments 10 years' engineering experience, 5 in design authority or leadership Strong background in electromechanical/mechatronic systems Proven delivery of upgrade kits or engineering modifications Experience with phase‑gate or milestone‑based project delivery Knowledge of CE, ISO, RoHS/REACH, SEMI Skilled in engineering change control & version management Strong analytical skills (MATLAB, Minitab, Excel) Comfortable working across cultures & time zones Willing to travel globally each quarter About You You're decisive, hands‑on and technically credible.
